Participating in a discussion on women’s leadership in the IT sector
Whose grandmother was a manager?
A rare case. Especially when it comes to IT, which has long been seen as a kind of “non-feminine” field.
IT professionals are among the most sought-after workers today. Accordingly, they are often paid above the national average. However, not only are there still significantly fewer female professionals in this sector, but also fewer female managers.
What are the reasons?
- fewer of them choose such studies
- imposter syndrome, where there is a lack of self-confidence even in areas of high performance
- overall statistics encourage more critical self-assessment and perfectionism
The discussion on what drives women to become managers and leaders in IT included:
- Rasa Raulinaitė, Head of the Enterprise Developer Department at Devbridge, an IT company (part of Cognizant);
- Laura Duksaitė – Iškauskienė, Partner at Master Class Lithuania;
- Aliona Sosunova – Piurko, Director of Engineering at Vinted, founder of Tech Kinship.
- Gintarė Dzindzelėtaitė – Kelmelė – moderator of the discussion, education project manager at the IT company Devbridge (part of Cognizant).
