L. Duksaitė | Generation Z CEOs – how they differ from others
I touched on this aspect when commenting on the Verslo žinios topic on the attitudes of Generation Z workers towards money.
A few things I notice:
- There is no difference in salary expectations between young and more experienced managers. Often they are almost the same. For example, a CFO in a successful start-up might have the same salary expectations as a CFO with 15-20 years of experience in a mature company.
- Importantly, young managers are very willing to learn, investing a lot of time to acquire the knowledge or skills they need quickly.
Apart from the wage expectation, which is the same, there are substantial differences:
- Fair pay and benefits packages, including healthcare and retirement savings, are essential for Generation Z managers.
- They emphasise the smaller pay gap between their pay and that of their team members.
- They do not tend to hide their salaries. You can feel free to share this information.
- Generation Z managers are more financially literate. More focused on saving.
- Their attitude towards money is closely linked to their values. They tend to spend money on experiences and products that are in line with their ethical and social convictions and often prefer companies that are socially responsible.
