Market demand for sustainability managers is growing
From this year, many more companies will have to report on sustainability (ESG). The increased demand has also affected the labour market. Major companies have been intensively recruiting sustainability managers for some time.
Sustainability managers’ main task is not reporting. They are responsible for all sustainability initiatives within the company, whether environmental, social responsibility or governance. ESG managers are the change agents and the report is only a summary of their work, which can also be produced with internal resources.
However, it is the introduction of accountability that has significantly increased the need for such managers.
Simona Petrikaitė reminds you who is subject to these requirements.
As of this year, sustainability reporting is mandatory for all companies that meet at least two of the three criteria:
- a balance of more than €25 million,
- annual turnover exceeding €50 million,
- the average number of employees per year is 250 or more.
- All companies listed on EU stock exchanges will also have to report.
